Pulled right from the strips of your favourite comic book pages, make sure you get down to the waterfront on a good day. You can fill in the ‘i’ in Wellington between Marvel’s biggest heroes. The latest decal takes on a rainbow of colours depending on the light and angle you view it from. Just a short distance from Te Papa and two minutes from Tākina, this is a must-stop moment on your way to the exhibition.
The iconic Mjölnir has crash-landed in Wellington and is only here for a limited time. Measuring six metres long from head to pommel and weighing almost 1.5 tons, this is an enlarged replica of the one wielded by Natalie Portman in the latest Thor film. It even lights up at night, so make sure you visit it twice. Based at Whairepo Lagoon near the waterfront, you can find Thor’s mighty hammer just a few hundred metres from the exhibit. Where else in the world can you truly test your strength on a hammer too mighty for Thor himself?
