Pick your favourite Marvel movie and you’ll likely find an original costume from it throughout the exhibition. With intricately designed works worn by some of the biggest celebrities, you can get up close. See just how much detail goes into making the stars of the Marvel Universe jump from the comic strip to the silver screen. From Thor and Loki to Doctor Strange and Black Panther, these original costumes bring a whole new dimension to your favourite Super Heroes. 

Alongside the costumes, you can find numerous real props on display throughout the exhibition. Want to see just how big the Mad Titan’s Infinity Gauntlet was? Check out the real Mjölnir from the Taika Waititi-directed ‘Marvel Studios’ ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. Then make your way to Whairepo Lagoon to find a larger-than-life version that even the God of Thunder might struggle to lift. 

For super-fans and art appreciators alike, the exhibit houses over 60 original pieces of comic book history from some of the biggest names in the industry. Learn how Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko brought their original ideas to life between the panels and created history with their immersive storytelling. This exhibition hosts a large selection of artwork, comics, and pages that inspired a universe of characters and storytelling.

Looking for something truly rare? Marvel Comics #1  from 1939 is on display. This piece of history included the first appearance of Carl Burgos’ android Super Hero the Human Torch, and the first appearance of Bill Everett's anti-hero Namor the Sub-Mariner. Now famous for their portrayal on screen and more than their fair share of panels throughout history, a mint edition copy of this comic can go for over $1 million US. 

This exhibition is more than just comics, colouring, and props. You can dive into more than 80 years of Marvel history throughout the exhibition. Explore intricate panels telling the story of how a comic book company completely changed pop culture and played a hand in many significant moments from the last century. From the introduction of Captain America in World War II through to counterculture moments throughout the 60’s and 70’s, Marvel has been printing comics that reflect the world around it since the very beginning. 

Want to truly capture a comic-worthy moment? Dotted throughout the exhibition you can find some larger-than-life sculptures to see how you square up against some of your favourite Super Heroes. You bring yourself, this exhibition brought a Hulk... Pose with Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, Black Panther, and many more as you find some beautifully designed characters that look like they've fallen right from the pages of the biggest Marvel comics.  

Themed dioramas can be found all over the exhibition but nothing is more impressive than the multiverse. Hidden among this hall of mirrors you can find costumes from Dr Strange. Just don’t get confused and lose yourself in the illusion of this Instagram-worthy exhibition. With so many characters and sets throughout the exhibition, you’ll wonder if you walked right into a crossover of all your favourite characters.
