The success just keeps coming for comedienne Urzila Carlson. She’s back from storming the world for a laugh-laden tour of her adopted country New Zealand. ‘Just Jokes’, which she’s bringing to The Opera House, has a simple concept. “It says it on the label. Just jokes. Come for a show and leave with a sore face from laughing! Switch off and relax”, says Urzila.

A sure-fire fan favourite, Urzila continues to spread hearty laughs wherever she goes. She’s a three-time winner of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s People’s Choice Award for most tickets sold. In the last twelve months, Urzila has sold out two tours of the United Kingdom plus a European tour. She’s also managed to squeeze in a season at the ‘Just For Laughs’ comedy festival in Montreal. This prestigious gig is an invitation-only event.

2024 began with a hiss and a roar when she made her United Kingdom television debut, appearing on ‘QI’. She’s also lent her voice to a character in the feature animation ‘Ozi’ produced by Leonardo DiCaprio. If that wasn’t enough, her chart-topping podcast, ‘That’s Enough Already!’ is into its fourth season. Here, Urzila interviews comedians about what annoys them the most about themselves and others. Among the comic luminaries grilled so far are Jimmy Carr, Sarah Millican, Tim Minchin, and Russell Howard.

“Carlson has long been one of our best comedians, and now the world can see it too.”
